Héber has been named NYCFC’s Newcomer of the Year for 2019.

The Brazilian hotshot finished his debut season as his team’s top-scorer, netting 15 times in 23 appearances after signing from HNK Rijeka in March.

Héber’s goals helped City finish top of the Eastern Conference and secured CONCACAF Champions League qualification for the first time in Club history.

The 28-year old made his debut in the 0-0 draw vs. Montreal Impact on April 6 and netted his first goal for NYC on the road vs. D.C. United on Week 8, also completing an assist in the 2-0 win.

He never looked back from there, scoring 14 more goals, including the unforgettable backheeled winner vs. Red Bulls which gave his team victory in the Hudson River Derby.

Scoring in five consecutive games in the summer also gave Héber a new all-time NYCFC record for goals in consecutive games, meaning it was a breakthrough season to remember for the Boy from Brazil.

On Tuesday, NYCFC will announce the team’s Defensive Player of the Year, followed by Team MVP on Wednesday.
