It has been a tough and demanding season for New York City FC.

Anton Tinnerholm, one of the most representative players of the Blues, expressed his feelings through Instagram:

"This year have been the toughest in my career. It may look alright on the screen but it’s been painful from the very start. For everyone of us. Going into a bubble, leaving the family behind in the middle of a pandemic was one of the worst things I have ever experienced.

We fought as a team the full season, put everything out there. Unfortunately the doctor stopped me in overtime after watching a video. It’s that kind of year.

And what’s next? Confacup coming up. People think we should just recharge and start preparing directly. Another bubble leaving the family while the cases once again are surging. We’re human beings. We want to spend time with the ones closest to us. Going into a second bubble, it does not feel right. I miss my family back home in Sweden, haven’t seen them for two years.

Finally I want to thank all my teammates and staff for this weird, crazy and disappointing season. And to all you fans supporting, thank you for having our back through such a terrible year.

And do not forget. Players are human beings too".
