NYCFC Sporting Director David Lee commented on James Sands' contract extension: “We are delighted that James has signed a new contract with the Club and this moment is well deserved. The extension is about his performance for the First Team over the past two seasons and his overall development of him since he became our first Homegrown.

“He has become an integral part of our team and he constantly plays at a very high level. His work ethic and his professionalism both on and off the pitch set a wonderful example for all of our Academy players who are trying to follow in his footsteps. James has such a bright future and we can't wait to help him continue maximizing his potential as a player to help him play at the highest level possible".
