It was certainly not a brilliant game played by New York City FC against New England Revolution. Ronny Deila's team physically suffered their opponents, conceding them the goal early in the game and failing to have a reaction. New York City FC made many defensive mistakes, especially in the first half. New England Revolution had no problem scoring and finding more spaces during the game. The defense was inattentive, while in the other wards New York City FC seemed not to have many ideas. The attackers were served very little, there were no maneuvered game actions, but only sporadic attempts by individual players. Clear signs of how New York City FC was without game ideas, without imagination. In addition, the Revs defended themselves well, leaving no spaces for New York which encountered a lot of difficulties in going to the final shot. A strange game, in which New York also seemed out of shape, slow and awkward.

Only Sean Johnson tried to avoid a bad and heavy defeat, until Lee Nguyen scored the second half penalty. Penalty awarded after a naive foul by Callens that has extinguished the last chance of a comeback in New York. After three consecutive victories, New York City FC stops in a game that has shown all its limits and that is in dire need of recovering as soon as possible Maxi Moralez, a fundamental player for the game of a team that seems to have lost its identity.
