Nick Cushing: "Great spirit and fight from the team"

New York City FC drew against Portland Timbers thus missing the opportunity to take another step forward towards the playoff zone. Despite this, Nick Cushing is satisfied with the spirit shown by the team:

"Mistakes happen in the game, but I think the team has been forced to mature, forced to become resilient. You see a team today who haven't won in ten, go down one-nil and come into half-time down one-nil. A lot of teams will break up and split up and the dressing room will start to fall apart. What we see is a group coming together stronger."

"Yes, there are areas where we need to improve. We need to put the teams under more attacking pressure, more shots on goal, more opportunities created. I think the team is really coming together.

We need to improve the squad. We need to add more quality when you have more quality moments to see. But really the togetherness, the fight and the spirit is the best I've ever experienced."
