New York City FC have clinched the Eastern Conference top seed and have qualified for the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League for the first time in Club history.
Despite NYCFC’s 2-0 defeat to New England Revolution on Sunday, City sealed a place in the continent’s premier club tournament in 2020 after clinching first place in Eastern Conference.
Columbus Crew SC's victory over the Philadelphia Union means that NYCFC cannot be passed in first place.
NYCFC have 61 points from 33 games - a Club record high tally with one more regular season game to follow (vs. Philadelphia, Sunday 4pm ET).
What it Means
City will be the top seed of the Eastern Conference for the first time in Club history going into the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Your Boys in Blue will receive a bye directly into the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the playoffs and will host the first playoff match on either October 23 or 24. Additionally, the team has also qualified for the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League, another first for NYCFC.
CONCACAF Champions League
The draw for the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League will be made in December 2019.
