The atmosphere inside New York City FC is heavy. After victories against Nashville and FC Dallas, the Blues have literally lost the compass. NYCFC lost their next four games, to Toronto, Charlotte, FC Cincinnati and most notably the Hudson River Derby. Soon after came the draw against Orlando, then the fall again, this time at home, against Philadelphia Union.

In the last six games played, New York City FC has won a pittance of a point. A performance that certifies the black, negative period of the team that seems to no longer know how to get out of this situation. In fact, the team seems to be lost on the pitch, it doesn't seem to have its own identity, a precise idea of the game to be developed on the pitch. It is evident that Nick Cushing fails to convey the ideas of him to the team.

The long run without a win also adds to the discouragement within the team. Losing like NYCFC lost to Philadelphia is even more frustrating. The team is discouraged, it was clearly seen on the pitch and at the end of the game. Failing to win clearly leads to despondency and discouragement, what are now the feelings of a team that can no longer recover. Every single player's morale is down.

The team has obvious structural problems, there is a lack of decisive players in various strategic roles. The feeling, however, is that NYCFC must find victory in order to unlock itself, as if returning to victory could be the switch of the season. New York City FC needs to win again in order to regain the confidence that has been lost in recent disappointing weeks.
